My honest review of Heliocare 360° MD AK Fluid SPF100+

My journey to test out this product began when I discovered that I had a strange lesion on my face. Having regularly participated in outdoor sporting activities during my childhood and having grown up in Australia, I knew that a trip to the Dermatologist was the recommended next step.

My Dermatologist promptly diagnosed the lesion as Actinic Keratosis, a common pre-cancerous skin lesion that requires high vigilance. The treatment was simple enough. 2 separate sessions of cryotherapy to burn-off the damaged skin cells. But as I grew up playing sports as a child under the Australian sunshine, my yearly routine of Dermatologist visits is now going to be my new normal.

Thankfully my Dermatologist also recommended that I apply a high-factor total spf block and his first recommendation was Heliocare 360° MS AK Fluid SPF100+.

Actinic Keratosis is really an early warning sign that you are at higher risk of developing a non-melanoma skin cancer in the coming years. What starts as a rough, scaly patch of skin, that never seems to heal, is a good indication that you may be suffering from this early warning sign. I urge anyone with these type of skin symptoms to get checked by a doctor or Dermatolgist as soon as possible.

I now accept (and am thankful) that I was able to catch this early and have it removed before it developed into something like a non-melanoma skin cancer like squamous cell carcinoma. But did that mean that I would need to use a thick high-factor SPF for the rest of my life to protect my skin? And what about preventing more of these lesions from appearing on my face.

This is where Heliocare 360° MD AK Fluid SPF100+ excels. Although it's a super high sun protection factor of 100+ (PA++++), it's not thick and occlusive like many other high factor sunscreens. It also has ingredients that actively repair the DNA damage in the skin that allows non-melanoma skin cancer and in particular actinic keratosis to form. It contains this GenoRepair Complex to repair DNA, thus preventing formation of actinic keratosis.

Strengths

Super lightweight protection with a high sun protections factor. Light enough to use daily. Actively treats and repairs DNA damage from previous UV exposure. This high SPF100+ doesn't leave a white, chalky residue and blends seamlessly into the skin for excellent protection from UVA, UVB, Infrared A and all forms of visible light.

Weaknesses

None. I really adore how this product feels on the skin and the fact it absorbs without a white residue like other high-protection sunscreens is a huge plus.

Rating

I'm giving this a resounding 5 stars! The amazing skin feel of this high factor sunscreen has to be felt to be believed. I'm extremely happy that I can wear this daily and not have a ghost-white face.

My Opinion

This is the only SPF100+ sunscreen I've ever seen/used that doesn't leave a white residue on the skin. I remember back to when I was a kid and we had 100% sun blocks that contained zinc oxide and they were almost impossible to get off the skin after using. In contrast, this modern formulation still provides that high skin protection without the white "stain" on the skin. My skin also feels nourished after use. I still do a lot of outdoor walking, and this sunscreen is more than up to the job of protecting my skin.

It's now been over 3 years since I was diagnosed with actinic keratosis and I'm happy to report that I haven't had any more of these lesions appear. I'm sure in large part because of my religious use of this high technology sunscreen. In fact I would go as far to say that I'm convinced it has done as promised and assisted in the DNA repair of the facial skin structure to prevent any more of these nasty lesions from popping up.

Would I Buy It Again?

Yes. I can't do without this to protect my skin from forming more actinic keratosis lesions
