My honest review of Dermalogica Precleanse Oil

Dermalogica were pioneers of the "Double-Cleansing" trend many years ago and introduced this oil-water cleanser back in the early 2000's. For dissolving suncreens, makeup or just ordinary skin oils from the skin, it's best to use an oil based cleanser to attract the oil particles and lift them out of the pores and off the surface of the skin.

The brilliance of Precleanse Oil, is its ability to turn from oil into water once water is added to it. We call this emulsification and it's a cool way to dissolve oils that have been trapped while cleansing into a liquid that can be easily washed away.

Designed to be used inconjunction with another water based cleanser, Precleanse Oil prepares the skin to receive a deeper cleanse with another cleanser.

Strengths

Extremely gentle and simple to use. Can be used twice daily to remove sunscreens, makeup and other oils from the skin surface and deeper into the pores.

Weaknesses

None. Although if you have an allergy to any of the essential oil ingredients then it might be best to choose a fragrance free cleanser like Special Cleansing Gel instead. However, in all of my years of experience using this cleanser on clients, I've never once had any client react to this product.

Rating

I give it 5 stars. Lovely texture and feel when using this cleansing oil. Massaed into dry skin and then adding water afterwards, emulsifies the oil into water.

My Opinion

A bathroom staple to shift stubborn oils from sunscreens or makeup from the skin, so you can give you skin a thorough cleanse with your normal water based cleansers. I particularly like that it leaves no residue if used correctly and the gentle emulsification of the oil into water leaves the skin feeling hydrated and ready for a deeper cleanse with my standard cleanser.

Would I buy it again? Yes! It's already a firm favourite in my bathroom cabinet!
